Whether you’re using your Android phone for work or play, there’s a good chance you’ve seen ads on your screen from time to time—and that makes sense because the majority of mobile apps don’t come totally free of charge.

Can You Get AdBlock on Android? This question tends to be asked every time and in this article, we gave a well-detailed explanation of how to get AdBlock on your android device.

In fact, the better an app works and the more advanced its features are, the more likely it is to include advertisements.

If you use AdBlock Plus or another kind of web browser ad-blocking software on your computer, though, you may have noticed that these programs don’t work on your Android device.

You can get adblocker on your android device, provided it is suitable for your android operating system.

What is Adblocker

AdBlock is a content filtering and ad blocking extension for Google Chrome, Apple Safari (desktop and mobile), Opera, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Yandex Browser, and Android web browsers. It was created by Michael Gundlach in 2009.

AdBlock allows users to prevent page elements, such as advertisements, from being displayed. It also blocks cookies from tracking users’ web activity.

People use ad-blocking every day to stop bad advertising from ruining their online experience, especially while playing games, searching the web, and watching videos.

Ad blocking does have some negative aspects, but still, people continue to use them. There are several ways to block ads on Android devices, at least some of the time. You almost exclusively need root access or to install third-party apps.

Since most of the apps on the list require third-party installation and download, you may be a bit hesitant.

A growing number of sites and services accept payment instead of advertisements. This is preferable to ad-blocking since it lets the creators of the content you enjoy maintain it while also earning a living. That’s all I have to say.

What does AdBlock do?

If you’re someone who hates ads, then you’ll be happy to know that there is a way to get rid of them. AdBlock is an app that blocks ads on your Android device.

This means that you won’t have to see any more annoying pop-ups or banner ads when you’re browsing the web.

In addition to getting rid of ads, AdBlock also blocks trackers and malware. This makes it a great option for people who are concerned about their privacy. Plus, it can help improve your battery life and decrease your data usage.

What are the best Adblocker Apps

Confused about what the best ad blocker apps for android are?

A simple adblocking application, AdAway redirects all ads to a IP address using a modified hosts file. You don’t see any ads and the request goes nowhere.

Modified or custom host files can be uploaded to the app, or you can download a basic one. Host files are stored in a read-only area of the Android system.

Therefore, root access is required for this one. You can donate if you want to, but the entire app is free.

There are only two drawbacks: you must download them from F-Droid, not the Play Store, and you need root access to do so. Root users can always manually modify host files if they so desire.

Adblocker Plus

Adblocker Plus is one of the most popular ad blocking apps, available for both rooted and non-rooted devices. If you don’t have root access, you have to do some additional work. Essentially, you open the app once, set it up, and let it run on its own in the background.

It runs in the background and filters web traffic almost the same way it does through the web browser extension.

That’s all there is to it, really. Click the button to get instructions on how to set up Adblock Plus on both rooted and unrooted devices.

Due to the ever-increasing number of Android developers, there are many ad-blockers for Android that block all advertisements on your device, including those displayed in games and apps. You can install AdAway if that is your preference rather than AdBlock Plus (ABP); we will discuss the former in this article.

How to use adblocker plus

In this case, we’re using Adblock Plus since it’s open source and has an option for non-intrusive ads. This option works for rooted and non-rooted devices. You must allow applications from unknown sources on your device before you can install ad-blockers.

A sideloading is necessary due to the removal of ad-block apps from the Google Play Store. You must sideload any ad-blocker, i.e. you must install ad-blockers using their APK files and not from Google Play Store.

To set this configuration, follow these steps:

  1. For Android 4.0 and above, go to Settings > Applications.
  2. Go to the Unknown sources option.
  3. If it’s not checked, check it, and then tap OK in the confirmation popup.
  4. Use a browser on your device to download Adblock Plus for Android. Your device will receive the APK file: apk of Adblockplus_android.
  5. Open the APK file in a file manager, then select Open App Manager, and then click on Install.
  6. Install Adblock Plus after rooting your device. It will request superuser permissions. Allow superuser permissions to Adblock Plus and you will be able to run it.
  7. If you are not yet rooting your device, you will need to manually set up proxy settings in your Android. Instructions are different for Android versions 3.1 and higher.

In the Settings section of Adblock Plus, you can set more options, like adding ads filter lists and non-intrusive ads.

In a similar manner to Adblock Plus, AdGuard runs in the background as a service and filters web traffic.

While it works without root, it requires a bit more setup. It also monitors your web traffic similarly to apps like GlassWire.

To put it all together, you get a Material Design UI. The free version blocks ads only in web browsers. You get AdGuard for Windows or Mac for $24.99 per month as well as the premium version of AdGuard.

Block This

The ad blocker app Block, while not the most popular on the list, is effective, open source, and completely free.

As with Adblock Plus and AdGuard, Block This uses DNS blocking instead of filters.

According to the developer, this method consumes less battery power than standard ad blockers since most of the work is done before the data is transmitted.

For the moment, we still recommend AdBlock Plus or an ad-blocking browser. It is an interesting idea, however.
