First off, be sure that your device has sufficient battery power before trying to set up a new service line.
The device should not be fully charged but should have enough battery life remaining that it can reach approximately 50 percent charge if necessary during activation.
You will also need at least four or five bars of signal strength on both voice and data services on your device in order for activating it to go as smoothly as possible.
If you do not have access to a strong enough signal, you may need to try again in another location.
Why is my Assurance Wireless phone not working?
Sometimes, a phone that’s in working order suddenly stops working for no apparent reason.
The reasons for a nonworking phone can be many—from technical glitches like carrier signal problems and power outages, to ordinary human error like accidentally turning off your phone.
Most of these issues can be resolved by following some basic troubleshooting steps. Before you dive in, however, make sure your wireless network is still available: try making a call from another device or visiting a friend with an active connection.
If there are no problems with your network and your device isn’t receiving calls because it’s damaged or defective, you may need to take additional steps before troubleshooting further.

Can I use my own phone with Assurance Wireless?
You can use your own compatible phone with new service activation or an eligible upgrade with Assurance, but it does require activating a new line of service.
If you want to keep your current number, you’ll have an opportunity during the checkout process to indicate that you want to port your existing number into Assurance (if it’s available).
However, if you choose not to port your number and are switching from another carrier, be aware that your current phone will not work.
Only unlocked GSM phones can be used with us; CDMA phones cannot be activated on our network. This includes Sprint® phones as well as most AT&T® and Verizon® phones.
The exception is phones using Sprint® CDMA, Verizon® CDMA, or AT&T® GSM network technology. These phones can be used with Assurance Wireless and will not incur an activation fee or early termination fee if you choose to switch from another carrier when you activate your new phone with us.
However, since these are not unlocked phones, they can only be used on our network in those instances where there is no native coverage by our partner carriers’ networks.
Because of that limitation and others, it may make sense for you to choose a new compatible phone instead of one of these networks natively available in your area—but that’s something we’ll let you decide for yourself.
