There’s nothing worse than waking up one morning to find that your Instagram account has been hacked and your privacy has been compromised.
The good news is that you can delete your hacked Instagram account without having to reset the password first. Here’s how to do it!
Change Your Password
If you can’t access your Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter account because it was hacked (or if you’re sure that it was hacked), change your passwords immediately! Hackers often use other peoples’ accounts for spamming and phishing.
If you find yourself logged in on a site you don’t recognize, change all of your usernames and passwords immediately. Be wary of emails that ask for personal information like credit card numbers—even if they come from official-looking sites.
To avoid being tracked by hackers, you should also set up two-factor authentication with sites where available.
Delete the Account
If you’re able to, it’s always better (and safer) to just create a new account and start fresh rather than attempting to resolve an existing one.
But if you don’t have access or aren’t able to do that, there are some steps you can take when faced with an inactive account.
You can contact Instagram support or try resetting your password by answering security questions. If that doesn’t work, you should be able to get back into the original Instagram ID if you can provide proof of ownership such as old emails, photos, or screenshots from before it was hacked.
Applying for Recovery
If you no longer know how to login in to Instagram, don’t stress! You can either apply for an access code from one of two places:
- emailing Facebook for assistance or
- Contact Instagram directly by providing them with information about who you are and what has happened.
From there, they’ll usually send a code over that can be used once (or possibly twice!) in order to get into your account again.
In these situations, it may take up to 48 hours before you receive any kind of response from either party—so be patient! Once you have an access code and enter it on Instagram, click forgot password? T
his will generate another code that can be entered on top of your first one. If you are receiving a message saying that this device has been blocked then follow those steps below:
- Find out what device is connected to your Instagram account. If there is more than one connection in settings-click ‘edit’ next to ‘connected devices. Next, check out who is logged into Facebook/Instagram under settings.
Hopefully, if there are two connections only one person is logged in. If not, it’s time for family troubleshooting! This step also can be useful if you’re having trouble accessing both phone and desktop at once: sometimes logging out of mobile will allow desktop access; likewise, logging out of desktop may allow mobile access.
Just remember to log back in when you’re done to avoid being locked out entirely or accidentally posting inappropriate things while other people have control of your account!
- Change your password on Instagram (you do have a different password set up right?) and then check on that other device whether or not it needs resetting with a new password as well.
Can I delete My hacked Instagram account?
If you think your account has been hacked, it’s important that you change all of your passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
That’s just basic security hygiene. But if you suspect someone is trying to take over your identity or use it for nefarious purposes, there are some extra steps you can take.
Instagram provides detailed instructions for removing a person from an account, but if they still have access (because they know the username and password), there’s one way to delete accounts on Instagram even if they don’t: deleting everything off your phone.
How long does it take for Instagram to delete a hacked account?
It usually takes 24 hours, but it can take up to 48 hours or more. You’ll likely receive an email letting you know that they’ve deleted it.
If not, go ahead and log into your phone and try deleting it from there. If it doesn’t let you delete, try going into someone else’s profile and deleting their posts—this should trigger an email alerting you that something is wrong with your account.
(Bonus: if other people start reporting that their accounts are hacked as well, Instagram will likely be quicker at responding.)
How do you delete someone else’s Instagram from your phone?
First, login in on their phone and go to settings. There will be a section for profile, go there. Delete their profile from my profile.
This should prevent them from uploading from that phone. Once you have deleted them from all devices you will have deleted them from your photos as well if you logged into their profile at any point (because it was linked to yours).
Now, if they continue to upload pictures while they are away then you can report those pictures as inappropriate (easily done by long-pressing and choosing report).
If no one has reported it yet then delete it yourself after reporting. That’s pretty much all I know how to do 🙂 good luck!
Can you trace a fake Instagram account?
When you’re running an influential Instagram profile, there’s a good chance that your account might be targeted by hackers.
Because once they hack into your account, they can assume control of it and start posting whatever they want on it.
Since you can’t access it, there’s no way for you to stop them from ruining things for you. The first thing that you should do is try to get back in touch with whoever initially signed up for the profile and let them know what happened.
If that doesn’t work out then all hope is not lost yet! You can still remove any posts that have been posted on your behalf or recover anything that was posted using hashtags as part of an ad campaign.
