Oh well,

Simply said, “Digital marketing” is the promotion of your products or services using digital channels like search engines, social media platforms, mobile apps, email, and websites.

yeah, I guess that doesn’t still clear the air, Let’s dive further.

In today’s business world, digital marketing has become an essential part of any marketing strategy due to the increasing use of technology and the internet.

In fact, an article on Wordstream shows that 45% of Small businesses have a paid search strategy in place. On top of that, 55% use display ads for advertising.

All these statistics show how authentic digital marketing seems to be in the growth of your business.

The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive overview of digital marketing and its various elements, benefits, challenges, and future predictions.


If we proceed without me making sure that you know the other form of marketing, then that would be unfair.

As you might already know Digital marketing with my above explanation, there is also Traditional marketing.

I know you might be thinking Traditional marketing is the opposite, but nope, because that is not the case as each type, have its own way of communicating, but yes one of the both must be better than the other.

This tends to be one of my favorite of them all because it is a free traffic source and yeah requires loads of work and effort, but worth it.

SEO is the process of optimizing a website or online content to improve its visibility and ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs).

In simpler terms, it’s the practice of making your website more appealing to search engines like Google and Bing not to mention all others.

So that they rank your website higher when people search for specific keywords or phrases related to your business.

To achieve this, businesses and companies use a combination of on-page and off-page optimization techniques to make their website more attractive to search engines.

On-page optimization includes things like keyword research, optimizing your web content, improving website speed, and optimizing meta tags and descriptions.

Off-page optimization includes things like link building and social media marketing.

By appearing higher in search results, you can reach a wider audience and attract more potential customers.

Pay-per-Click (PPC) Advertising

I have heard some funny experiences with PPC advertising that got me results and sometimes left me on the edge.

but let me explain what PPC advertising is first.

PPC advertising involves paying for ads to appear on search engine results pages or social media platforms.

With PPC advertising, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad, hence the term “pay-per-click.” This can be an effective way to drive targeted traffic to a website and increase conversions.

When I ran a Facebook Pay-per-click ad and this was my result.

You could see that I had 178 clicks and paid 2.35 Naira per click and yes I am happy with that result. Although during the cause of running this campaign, I did some A-B testing just to be sure which works better.

of course, my first trial was with a display image more like a flier and I got 5 Naira per click which wasn’t that bad but wasn’t just a good fit for me either.

So I dug deeper and found another method that could cut down the cost.

My second trial was using a video for my PPC ad and guess what this was what gave me the result I showed you above.

In short, video ad converts better than display image ad.

Also, PPC ads are typically displayed in search engine results or on websites, and they are targeted to specific keywords or audiences such as AdSense, Ezoic, and the like.

For instance, if I was to run Pay-per-click (PPC) ad on this article, I won’t target those interested in Dog feeding instead I would go for people who are interested in Digital marketing.

That way I am being more specific with my targeting and will make it worthwhile and cheap.

One of the main benefits of PPC advertising is that it allows you to target ads to highly specific audiences, which can lead to more effective ad campaigns and higher conversion rates for you and save you some bucks.

Additionally, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad, so you can ensure that your advertising budget is being used efficiently and utilized, sometimes could be more but trust me the result is always tremendous.

However, PPC advertising can also be complex and time-consuming to set up and manage but trust me once you get used to running campaigns, it would then be seen as an easy fix.

If you decide to run PPC ads you will need to carefully select your keywords and bids, monitor the campaigns regularly so as to make sure you are targeting a converting audience, and also constantly optimize your ads to get the best results.

Despite these challenges, PPC advertising can be a powerful tool for businesses looking to reach new customers and drive sales.
